Too bad I'm not going to be able to afford one
A New Camera
Well, I ordered a new camera today. This has been a long time coming and I've wanted a digital SLR ever since I got into photography.
I finally made the big jump into the prosumer digital world.
I've had a total of two digital cameras and one film camera in my life.
- Fuji 1.3 megapixel - 0x optical 3x digital zoom
- HP 3.2 megapixel - 3x optical 2x digital zoom
- Canon Rebel 2000 (film)
My first jump in megapixels was about 2.5x but with my new camera being shipped right now, I'm making over a 3x jump in megapixels! This is a 10.1 megapixel camera!
I'm finally getting the camera of my dreams!
The Canon Rebel XTi (EOS 400D).

Most Useful Dashboard Widget… EVER!
Robert Scriva, I think I love you...
You have created the most useful Dashboard widget I've ever seen: Dashalytics!
I love the simplicity of it:
- Have a Google Analytics account
- Download the latest version of Dashalytics from the website
- Uncompress and install it
- Enter your Analytics username and password into the widget
- Choose which of your websites you want the widget to display
- This F12 every time you want to view your Analytics stats!
If I had thought of and programmed this first, I'd have charged money for it... it's THAT useful.
My Nano Is Acting Funky – Album Artwork Doesn’t Match The Song (FIXED)
My iPod nano has been acting funky for a few weeks. For some reason the iPod gets confused about the album artwork and displays a completely different (and often hilarious) artwork for the song that's currently playing.
Here's a humorous example: I started listening to 'For A Fair Desire' by Zao and the cover art for Mario Frangoulis (a classical/opera singer) came up. Funny to say the least... a hardcore/deathmetal band with the art of a classical album.
So I did some googling and came up with this site.
Since this seems to be such a big problem, and to make life easier for everyone, I have created some simple steps for you to follow to get your iPod Nano (or Video[/5G]) to display the correct album art.Follow these 8 simple steps.
- Plug you iPod into your computer and open iTunes.
- In iTunes, goto Edit -> Preferences -> iPod
- Deselect “Display album artwork on your iPod” -> close the properties window.
- Your iPod will update. So wait (should take a few seconds).
- Repeat step “2″
- Select “Display album artwork on your iPod” -> close the properties window.
- Your iPod will update. So wait (may take a minute or two).
- Tada! Your iPod should be back to its original greatness.
...worked like a charm.
Aparrently, the issues arises because of disconnecting your iPod from the computer while the iPod's screen says 'Do Not Disconnect'. Maybe I'll be more apt to follow the iPod rules from now on (probably not).

EFF: Frequently Awkward Questions for the Entertainment Industry
The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation), a consumers' rights and online-free-speech organization recently posted a great article asking some poignant questions to the RIAA and MPAA (as well as "big music" and "Hollywood" in general).
Here's a few of my favorites (click here to read the whole article)
The RIAA has sued over 20,000 music fans for file sharing, who have on average paid a $3,750 settlement. That's over $75,000,000. Has any money collected from your lawsuits gone to pay actual artists? Where's all that money going?
Major entertainment companies have repeatedly brought lawsuits to block new technologies, including the VCR, Digital Audio Tape recorders, the first MP3 player, the ReplayTV PVR, and now P2P software. Why is your industry so hostile to new technologies?
Is it legal for me to bypass CSS DVD encryption in order to skip the "unskippable" previews at the beginning of so many DVDs? Why should I have to be forced to watch these ads when I already bought the DVD?
Is it legal for me to skip the commercials when I play back time-shifted TV recordings on my TiVo or other PVR? How is this different than getting up and going to the bathroom?
