House (TV Series) – Formula for Success

Dana and I have been watching House on DVD and we're about ¾ through the 2nd season. I think I have the formula figured out:

1. Something strange happens to a seemingly normally healthy person.
2. They're rushed to the hospital where their symptoms worsen.
3. House and his team try to figure out what's wrong.
4. Foreman suggests Lupus or an auto-immune deficiency is the cause.
5. Bets are placed.
6. House tries to get out of clinic duty.
7. House goes to clinic duty and treats a patient that inspires a solution for the main case while pissing off the clinic patient.
8. They prepare to treat the patient with a controversial diagnosis stating, "If we give them the treatment and we're wrong, they could die."

   House responds, "They'll die in x hours if we don't treat them. Give it to them anyway."

9. House pisses Cuddy off.
10. House is forced to apologize to the clinic patient but does it in a backhanded sort of way.
11. The main patient goes into cardiac arrest because they didn't make the correct diagnosis.
12. An MRI is ordered and they find something that was overlooked previously.
13. The patient either gets better or dies.
14. House pisses everybody off.

And that about sums up almost every episode of House that I've seen. Yes, there are slight variations-sometimes House doesn't piss everybody off.

Although I've figured it out, I still like the show.
