I've updated the plugin and also started hosting it at WordPress.

Head on over to the WordPress plugin page or just go to your plugins page in the admin to upgrade.

A word of warning about upgrading: the folder name of the plugin has changed and you'll have to do a few extra steps this time in order to get it working properly.

After installing the plugin in its new directory: nike-ipod you need to check the permissions of the cache directory.

In the plugin options page, make sure you update the path of your cache directory and submit the changes.

Your plugin should be working properly now at version 1.4.4.

Leave a comment on this post if you're having issues or need assistance.

I can remember playing golf with my dad when I was younger at our campground facility in upstate NY. It was a crappy, unkempt, campground, 9-hole course. The course wasn't great, but my dad and I had a great time hitting the balls around.

Since then I've played a few times and always enjoy myself. I'm no Tiger Woods, but I can swing at least 50 over par .

So at thanksgiving I went snooping around my parents' basement and found the old set of clubs. I was extatic! These aren't just any old golf clubs... I'm a lefty. So not only do the clubs have sentimental value, they also make It so I don't have to rent clubs every time I golf. Lots of times people can borrow clubs from friends, but I dont' have any lefty-golf-playing-friends.

Tonight I cleaned them and oiled up the leather on the bag. Little did I know that there had once been a squirrel or chipmunk or something living in the bottom of the bag, because I found a bunch of nut shells and fuzzy squirrel-bedding material stuff in the bottom of the main compartment of the bag. I guess they hadn't been used in a while, huh?

I'm now the proud owner of a vintage set of lefty golf clubs: 1W, 3W, 3, 5, 7, 9, and a putter.

I think the disconnect between the music I think that I really like and what I actually listen to is interesting.

There's this great service called Last.fm that grabs what I'm listening to (via iTunes and a little helper application that I can't live without). It's how I populate that neat little bar at the bottom of my website in near real-time about what I'm listening to.

Every song that I listen to is recorded in Last.fm's database (yes, you can delete your account or even delete all you listening history, so privacy isn't an issue for me). From their website I can track my listening history and data usually doesn't lie. (Data doesn't lie, interpretations do, however)

Interesting tidbits about me:

I listen to a lot of music — 12,476 song plays since 9 Nov 2007 — which works out to be about 38.2 songs per day or 53.3 songs per work day. Last.fm has these all aggregated for me and provides me neat little statistics about my listening habits so much so that I didn't even know how much I really liked a few bands that I listen to on a regular basis.

It's amazing what data mining and aggregation can do. It reminds me of a recent article in Wired about how the future of scientific discovery is going to be in data mining instead of theorizing.

I don't think any scientific discovery is going to come from my musical listening statistics, but hey, you never know.

Dana and I have been watching House on DVD and we're about ¾ through the 2nd season. I think I have the formula figured out:

Something strange happens to a seemingly normally healthy person.

They're rushed to the hospital where their symptoms worsen.

House and his team try to figure out what's wrong.

Foreman suggests Lupus or an auto-immune deficiency is the cause.

Bets are placed.

House tries to get out of clinic duty.

House goes to clinic duty and treats a patient that inspires a solution for the main case while pissing off the clinic patient.

They prepare to treat the patient with a controversial diagnosis stating, "If we give them the treatment and we're wrong, they could die."

House responds, "They'll die in x hours if we don't treat them. Give it to them anyway."

House pisses Cuddy off.

House is forced to apologize to the clinic patient but does it in a backhanded sort of way.

The main patient goes into cardiac arrest because they didn't make the correct diagnosis.

An MRI is ordered and they find something that was overlooked previously.

The patient either gets better or dies.

House pisses everybody off.

And that about sums up almost every episode of House that I've seen. Yes, there are slight variations-sometimes House doesn't piss everybody off.

Although I've figured it out, I still like the show.

It's one of the best places to find stuff.

I've been looking for a treadmill for a few weeks off and on... doing research and looking at new and used models. Nothing on craigslist ever caught my eye till today. Turns out a family was moving to a condo in Mississippi and couldn't bring it with them. They said, "anything else you see in the house is for sale so speak up!"

Our friends, Joyce and Inor, came over with their pickup to help us move it to our house since our Durango died a while back and we are now a 2-car family instead of one car, one SUV family. At least our average MPG is over 25 now that we have two cars. But it's impossible to haul around things like a treadmill anymore.

Getting back to the topic at hand, we purchased a used Proform 795 SL. It's a really nice machine, a lot better quality that one we could have gotten at Walmart or Sears for a few hundred dollars more.

It's got:

A 2.5 HP motor

EKG2 pulse sensor

18-in. x 50-in. running surface

1.5%-10% power incline

0-10 mph speed

I'm planning on getting on it every night possible for at least 30 minutes. Even if I have to go to bed 30 minutes later, I'm GOING to do it. You can keep tack of my progress on the sidebar of my blog from my Nike+ WordPress plugin.

Oh, and I'm canceling my $45/month gym membership tomorrow.

I hate mainstream team sports.... with a passion. Baseball, football, basketball. They're all tedious and boring. Why do I feel that way? It's exactly the same reason I join "team deathmatch" games on Xbox Live: I can do better as a part of a team than by myself. Therefore, I think that team sports foster mediocrity.

On the other hand, I love most Olympic sports since a lot of them are individual or small-team sports (like beach volleyball).

This post is about showing the world what a nerd I am. NBC is so awesome, shooting over 3600 hours of HD Olympic coverage. So I set up my remote to cycle through all the HD Olympic coverage channels with the press of a button. It's even labeled "Olympics" on the remote

I'm just posting this for my own benefit, but the script.aculo.us callback function "afterfinish" can actually get the object from which it is being called.

Say I want to blind something down but I'm not sure what that something is, it's been clicked by the user on the page. All the examples I could find for afterfinish involved doing something completely unrelated to the calling object of the action.

Like:

Effect.BlindDown( 'element', {
afterfinish: function( ) {
$( 'another_element' ).hide();
}
} );

Unfortunately, I needed to have 'another_element' in the example above to be the calling object of the effect. I can't just set a Javascript variable because the afterfinish function wouldn't have access to it so the variable has to be passed to the callback function by afterfinish.

Here's how to get the id of the element on which the animation has just finished:

Effect.BlindDown( 'element', {
afterfinish : function( effect ) {
$( effect.element.id ).hide();
}
} );

I know it's a silly example, blinding down and then immediately hiding the object, but you can see how this would be useful:

function changeThisElement(element_id)
{
	Effect.BlindDown( element_id, { afterfinish : function(element)
	{
	if(effect.element.id == "special_case") ;//Do Something special here
	}}
	);
}

In the above example if the element id you pass to the "changeThisElement" function is "special_case", the if statement will catch it and you can write conditional statements, etc.

This callback has definitely helped me and I hope this little example will help others when I couldn't find solid documentation on exactly *how* the "afterfinish" callback passed parameter.

I'm starting a new Adobe AIR project and was trying to add some snazzy script.aculo.us effects to my application. It worked fine in the preview mode, but when I actually ran the application, I got a sandbox error since AIR is very restrictive on "eval()" statements.

Error: Adobe AIR runtime security violation for JavaScript code
in the application security sandbox (eval)

Turns out that others have had this problem too. script.aculo.us apparently isn't planning on releasing an AIR-compatible version, but I found this great page where a developer re-wrote the code in question.

the offending code in in effects.js at line 254:

    eval('this.render = function(pos){ '+
      'if (this.state=="idle"){this.state="running";'+
      codeForEvent(this.options,'beforeSetup')+
      (this.setup ? 'this.setup();':'')+
      codeForEvent(this.options,'afterSetup')+
      '};if (this.state=="running"){'+
      'pos=this.options.transition(pos)*'+this.fromToDelta+'+'+this.options.from+';'+
      'this.position=pos;'+
      codeForEvent(this.options,'beforeUpdate')+
      (this.update ? 'this.update(pos);':'')+
      codeForEvent(this.options,'afterUpdate')+
      '}}');

In order to run this code in an AIR application, it can't be in an eval() statement.
To fix this problem, change that entire code block to:

	/*
	eval('this.render = function(pos){ '+
	'if (this.state=="idle"){this.state="running";'+
	codeForEvent(this.options,'beforeSetup')+
	(this.setup ? 'this.setup();':'')+
	codeForEvent(this.options,'afterSetup')+
	'};if (this.state=="running"){'+
	'pos=this.options.transition(pos)*'+this.fromToDelta+'+'+this.options.from+';'+
	'this.position=pos;'+
	codeForEvent(this.options,'beforeUpdate')+
	(this.update ? 'this.update(pos);':'')+
	codeForEvent(this.options,'afterUpdate')+
	'}}');*/
	this.render = function(pos){

		if (this.state=="idle"){
			this.state="running";
			if(this.options["beforeSetupInternal"]) {
			this.options.beforeSetupInternal(this);
			}
			if(this.options["beforeSetup"]) {
				this.options.beforeSetup(this);
		}
		if(this.setup) {
			this.setup();
			}
		if(this.options["afterSetupInternal"]) {
			this.options.afterSetupInternal(this);
			}
		if(this.options["afterSetup"]) {
			this.options.afterSetup(this);
			}
		}
		if (this.state=="running"){
			pos=this.options.transition(pos)*this.fromToDelta+this.options.from;
			this.position=pos;
			if(this.options["beforeUpdateInternal"]) {
				this.options.beforeUpdateInternal(this);
			}
			if(this.options["beforeUpdate"]) {
				this.options.beforeUpdate(this);
			}
			if(this.update) {
				this.update(pos);
			}
			if(this.options["afterUpdateInternal"]) {
				this.options.beforeUpdateInternal(this);
			}
			if(this.options["afterUpdate"]) {
				this.options.beforeUpdate(this);
			}
		}
	}

I went to get my hair cut today since I'm going to see family this weekend and didn't want to look scraggly.

I'd like to think that I have a pretty good relationship with my hair stylist. I guess it's as good of a relationship you can have with a person you see in a professional capacity once a month for 10-20 minutes. I'm loyal to her because she does a good job. You can tell she takes her time and considers her profession an "art form." She spends about 1.5-2x the amount of time on a single client than every other stylist there and it's not because she's slow, I think it's becuase she cares. When I went in there was one person in her chair and one person in line before me which meant a pretty long wait, but I'm loyal. She's obviously popular at the local SuperCuts.

...Yes, I get my hair cut at a chain store and I'm loyal to an employee there. Is that strange?

A few months ago she told me she was pregnant with her third child and would be out for a while coming up. I congratulated her and immediately thought, "Oh crap! Who's going to cut my hair while she's on maternity leave?" I know it was a selfish thought, but I was genuinely happy for her.

Today when I sat down in the chair I asked how the baby was and she said, "oh... no more baby..." Whoops. I said, "sorry to hear that" and she expressed that she had really wanted to have the baby. I'm not sure what happened but I didn't ask any more questions and changed the subject.

It's amazing to me how much emapthy I could have for someone I hardly know. I really am sad that happened in her life and can't even imagine the dissapointment and heartache she went though recently. It makes me think about how sometimes I'm harsh to people (and especially coworkers) when I don't know what they may be going through in their personal lives.

I'm going to make a conscious effort to be nicer to people.

There. I've said it on the Internet and it'll be there indefinitely. If Google cache doesn't store it, Archive.org will, so I've got the entire Internet to keep me accountable (and all my friends and coworkers that read my blog). I want to be a kinder, more generous, less critical person.

Wow... my hair stylist helped me realize I needed to change my outlook on life. Strange.

For an initial payment of $299+tax, along with the $30/month "friend stipend" you can be bumped up to the status of "über-friend"... it's like "friend," but "with benefits."

Ugh. I want a new 3G iPhone so bad.

All I need is $299+tax (heck, I'd settle for the $199 version too) plus an extra $30/month for the data plan on my AT&T wireless service.

Any takers?

I wonder how long it will take for someone to come out with a Geocaching application? Hmm... maybe I should do it first... I'd make a killing selling the application in the iPhone Application Store.

I'm amazed at the sheer number of porn/male enhancement/pharmaceutical blog-spam-bots there are out there. Luckily, WordPress users have access to this great plugin that saves the comments section of their blogs: Asksmet. It's installed be default!

I thought I'd post about Akismet since I logged into my blog today and found that I'd just gone over 100,000 spam comments that I didn't ever see! Akismet just blocks the comment and throws it into a spam section in the WordPress administration area. I usually get an email every time someone comments on my blog... think about it: that's over 100,000 emails that I never had to see!

Thanks Akismet!

DISCLAIMER: I’m about to go on a rant. Please disregard this post if you don’t like rants.
So I’m listening to the radio the other day on the way to work (talk radio… is there any other kind?) and a commercial comes on for the Home Depot.

I can’t remember half of the commercial since I typically try to zone out during any sort of advertisement (which is kind of funny since I work at an advertising agency!). All I really remember is them saying:
